Welcome to Week 3 Term 3

Welcome to Week 3

What a wonderful day Year 4 had at the Blue Mountains last Thursday. The children were extremely  well behaved and the teachers were very proud of them. No doubt they were very tired when they got home. We hope they have shared some stories with you about the day as well as interesting things that they learnt from the National Park guides. We will be following up on the excursion this week in class and the children will be required to create a project on the information they learnt on the day.

Religious Literacy Assessment
During the next few weeks all Year 4 students will be involved in the Religious Literacy Assessment task (RLA). This requires the children to create a creative project based on either the parable of The Prodigal Son or the story of Zaccheaus the Tax Collector. The project will be done at school, however some children may need to bring in items from home to use on their task. The children will bring home a list next week of the items they may need.

Towards the end of the term the students will also do an online assessment to assess their religious knowledge. We are working with the children to help prepare them for this assessment task. On Thursday this week they will do a practise test to ensure that their usernames and passwords are working accurately.

                     Welcome to Week 2

Year 4 have a very busy and exciting week ahead!

Excursion Reminders:
A school excursion is always everyones  favourite part of the year!
Thank you for returning the permission notes so promptly.
We need all children to be at school on Thursday morning by 7:20am so that the buses can leave at 7:30am sharp.

A note of clarification is that the classroom teachers will be bringing some i-pads for the children so that they can take some photos during the day. Please DO NOT allow the children to bring any devices of their own.

The Blue Mountains are cold at this time of the year! The bus will be nice and warm and we will warm up during our walking activities. It is best that the children wear layers of clothing that they can "peel off" or put back on  throughout the day as needed. Please label all clothing and bags.

Term 3 HOMEWORK
The speaking and listening task for Term 3 was sent home with the children last week to glue into their Homework Books. The children do not need to hand in this book weekly. They can use their Homework books for the draft copies of each section for their presentations and the teachers are more than happy to view these for children who would like to show their weekly progress.
We have added the task to a new tab on this blog - just incase the Homework sheet didn't make it home!

Year 4 Daily Homework:
** Daily reading - 20 minutes per night (or more!!) It would be great if the children could read out loud to an adult at least once a week as this is a very different skill than reading to yourself.
**Mathletics - tasks are regularly set by the teachers, but playing "LIVE" is very important too.
