Cross Country
How lucky that the weather held off for us on Thursday so that the children could complete the Cross Country? Perhaps the threat of rain made everyone run faster as so many children commented that they had made improvements on their times and achieved “PB’s” this year. Congratulations to all Year 4 competitors who trained hard and showed an increase in their fitness. Well done to the children who made it to the Zone carnival.
Thank you to Mrs Harvey and her hard working PE Team who inspire and educate our children about good eating habits and that fitness can be great fun.
Dance Fever Challenge
What an amazing amount of fun was experienced on Friday night at the Dance Fever Challenge at the Sport Centre in Homebush! The parents and teachers clapped, cheered, laughed and were in awe of the talented children at OLOR who performed with great professionalism and grand style. The children competed against 14 schools with their heads held high displaying confidence, skill and teamwork. Congratulations especially to our Year 4 super stars… I have popped a few happy snaps on our photo page.
Premier’s Reading Challenge (P.R.C)
Good luck to the children who will participate in the Premier’s Reading Challenge for 2017.
The forms will be sent home soon and contain the details, username and password. The school holidays are a great time to “get reading”! There is a huge selection of books for the children to read allowing for many different interest levels and skill levels.
A suggestion is to take a photo of your child’s log in details, in case you misplace the note.
Further details about the challenge can be found here:
Homework Presentations
We are looking forward to listening to all the homework presentations throughout Week 11.
Absentee Notes
If your child has been absent from school through the term and it is yet to be explained, please send a letter or email stating the reason for the absence and date to your child’s teacher immediately. This is a legal requirement for the class rolls.
COMPULSORY SCHOOL ATTENDANCE
Requirements for Exemption from attendance for student absence and travel:
· 1-4 days absence: Parents must notify the school principal by mail or email (written) at least 2 weeks before leave date.
· 5 or more days absence: Parents must complete and submit the Application for Extended Leave form at least 2 weeks prior to commencing leave (Copies of travel documents must accompany this application). If approved the Principal issues a Certificate of Extended Leave. If the Principal declines this application (i.e. it is not within the best interest of the child to take leave and be absent from school), a letter notifying parents that the application has been declined would be forthcoming.
**NEW FORMS AVAILABLE TO DOWNLOAD ON THE SCHOOL WEBSITE**
Thank you
It has been a busy first term and we would like to thank all the parents for your support of the children and your support to us, as teachers. Your kind words here and there, notes returned on time, coming and saying ‘hello’, really help to brighten our days. We love working with your children.
We wish everyone a safe and happy holiday as well as many blessings for Easter.
God bless,
Donna, Kylie, George and Angela
